Poor Network Performance

I was wondering if more people noticed the poor network file copy/move performance. Whenever I move some files from my workstation -> server
(100mbit LAN) it goes at a rather poor rate.

When I move (upload) files with explorer it goes at a constant 8.5mb/sec rate. When I move with TC it tops at around 9mb and drops to 1mb/sec each few seconds and increases to 9mb/sec again.

Here are some speedtests I did with DU-Meter.

Are there any known tweaks for this issue?
