Beta2: In place renaming disabled?

Post by *JohnFredC »

I notice that in place renaming no longer works on my system in either Explorer or TC 6.01B2.

I only noticed this after installing Beta 2. In place renaming is still working in several other file managers I have, just not in Explorer or TC 6.01B2

Is it only a coincidence with the B2 installation? I have rebooted twice, and checked to make sure the function is still enabled in Explorer (it is).

It should work, but it doesn't.

I'm not testing Beta 2, but just in case it has anything to do with recent posts in these fora: how are you calling inplace rename? Shift+F6? F2? Single click + single click on the name?

Correct of you to ask this. My previous post was ambiguous.

The answer is

Single click + single click

Check "InplaceRename=" parameter state in your wincmd.ini.[/face]

Thank you! That did the trick!

Is that a new parameter? In place renaming has always worked. I don't recall ever having to turn it on. Apparently installing the beta disabled the option?

Anyway, thanks again.

No, the beta doesn't change any options. Perhaps someone tried to play a trick on you?

That'd have to be me! And I didn't do it.

But, I'm over 50, so maybe I just don't remember.

Now I am confused. How can this parameter in the wincmd.ini have an effect on Explorer. On my computer it does not. I have in place renaming disabled in TC (InplaceRename=0), but in place renaming is still enabled in Explorer (to my regret :(). Can somebody shed some light on it?

I think it was just coincidence.
