Do you know that you can click with a right button of mouse on [F8 Delete] button at the bottom of TC? Then you can choose empty Recycle Bin.

Have you tried it?
You get a context menu with this option: "Empty recycle bin". I know it's not a single click but double but I thought it can be helpful.

I meant clicking right button of mouse on the function key button - F8 - if you have turned them on they are at the bottom of TC - below panels and command line.

How about a batch file?

Post by *bobputnam »

Make an icon that calls this batch file:

del d:\recycled\*.* /q
del d:\recycled\*.* /q /a:h
del d:\recycled\*.* /q /a:s

Works like a charm. 8)

Here is a small program than empty recycle bin.

http://w1.171.telia.com/~u17102211/recbin.exe - 45 kb

The program activate windows standard function to empty recycle bin,
SHEmptyRecycleBinA in shell32.dll.

Tested on windows xp only. If nothing happend when running your bin is empty.
If you want to empty your bin silent add SILENT in parameter.

Or this, it's even smaller, so small that Win9x can't run it I think, only NT/XP.
Note: Remove the trailing spaces after each line before decoding.

Aezay, exactly how do we do this? I have never done one of these before.

EDIT: I figured it out. I've never done one of these before. It worked great! Woiuld there be a way to maybe add the filenames in the box to show what you are deleteing? Might help in not making a mistake in emptying the recycle bin. :)

EDM,

I know that this works when using the FAT32 file system. I'm not sure about NTFS.

Create a new file in your winnt directory called dr.bat (I forget how you create a new file in TC - I just edit an existing small file - erase all the current contents - and save as dr.bat)

Insert the following text:

del c:\recycled\*.* /q /s
del c:\recycled\*.* /q /s /a:s
del c:\recycled\*.* /q /s /a:h
del d:\recycled\*.* /q /s
del d:\recycled\*.* /q /s /a:s
del d:\recycled\*.* /q /s /a:h
del e:\recycled\*.* /q /s
del e:\recycled\*.* /q /s /a:s
del e:\recycled\*.* /q /s /a:h
del f:\recycled\*.* /q /s
del f:\recycled\*.* /q /s /a:s
del f:\recycled\*.* /q /s /a:h

Add or delete any of the above lines so that they correspond to the drive letters whose recycle bin you want to empty.

Save the file.

In TC, go to configuration - button bar.

In the section for command line enter "c:\winnt\dr.bat" without the quotes.
Pick an icon and enter a tooltip.

Save the configuration.

SHIFT-F4 will do it ;)

And the recycle prog by Petergus is doing its task fine here :) WinXP.
