Thumbnail view instead of listing

Post by *rolandd »

Hey All,

I ran across this screenprint: http://home1.gte.net/~res0nyil/images/tc.png

This is what I have also been looking for but can't get to work :?

I think it is different from IEView which needs to have you stand on a dir and then do a CTRL-Q.

Anybody any idea on how to get this to work?

Thanks.

:) Hello!
I don't understand very well your problem  I tested selecting a dir. containing pics, then pressing Ctrl+Q: I get info about the path, total size occupied and real occupied space on drive...
Then, I open that dir. (Enter) I get the first pic in the other window as a Quick-view pannel.
I can browse the dir using Up/Down arrows, I get the pics successively as Quick-view.
I tested with various pic file-types and *.mpg too, that works.
On your screen-shot, I didn't see a partner-program to open extra file-types in Lister / Quick view :?: It's normally displayed in the pannel title-bar, beside the displayed file name...
It's OK using Uniview under Win 98SE, and OK too using XnView DeLuxe under Win XP-Pro. I don't use IrfanView.
Maybe could you try to configure Lister to use XnView? Please, check the Lister Options Menu  Configure  Multimedia Display section
More in the Help at the F3 topic.
Glad to hear more about this issue,
:) Friendly,
Clo

Hey Clo,

Thanks for the reply. The whole idea is not having to use the quick-view panel. Therefore, Lister is not to be called at all.

Configuring it with XnView, Irfanview etc will always need Lister to show the files.

Or am I looking for something that is not there?

Roland

Hi Botak,

I don't know how this screenshot was made but it is still the quick view that you see on it.

you can see the difference at the header & footer. In the normal listbox you would have the c:\....\....\.. and at the bottom xb /xb ....

I don't know another plugin than ieview to make thumbnails....

:) Hi Roland!
I already answered, but.... lost in the Forum limbo...
 Just a very simple (but maybe stupid) idea:
Install an icon in the button-bar to launch a good pic-browser.
You'll have the benefit of its full features & functions...
You can bring pic-files on the icon directly by drag&drop...
To come back in TC: at anytime with the classic Alt+Tab...
None better idea for the moment
:) Best regards,
Clo

Hey all,

Ok, the cat is out of the bag, Nightburn uses IEView :).

I have it all figured out the way I want it ;) I just had to switch XP to classic view of folders, or else you get this nav bar on the left hand side.

The only thing I don't understand is that you have that folder in Quickview, while the other panel is on Taskmanager. I mean, if I quickview 1 folder and then move to Taskmanager (or something else) in that same panel, my quickview disappears ;) It will quickview wherever I am going. Or is this phohotshopped?

Yes, the icons are totally cool. It does show that TC's looks can be improved :D

Thanks for all the help,

Roland

P.s. Clo, thanks for your idea, but I try to stick to TC as much as I can ;)

That would be nice if quickview has his tab and do not disappear when user switches to other tab

Open two Tabs on left panel. Toggle Taskmanager-plugin on first Tab,
toggle IEview-Quickview on second Tab, then mouseclick on first
Tab (don't use Keyboard!). Thumbnails on right panel are still visible. ;)

Please note that this only works with TC 5.51 and TC 6.01, not with TC 6.00.

Yea it's basically an illusion, You can only have your cursor on [..] or quickview will display something else. but it still works good enough for my purposes *shrug*.

which icons are wanted?

:) Hi Bob!
To get a coloured background in Lister and QV:
Configuration  Options  Color  choose that you need in the combobox "Lister". To get customized colours, use the (>>) button at right side...
8) I think that you're an "icon-lover"! I'm thinking to make some new collections for XP when I'll have some free hours...
:) Friendly,
Clo

Thanks, Claude! ;)

That changes Lister but the background in the quick view is still white. How do I change the quick view colors?

Yes. I am an icon lover. When you get some made, let me know. I'd be interested in checking them out. ;)
