TC instead of Explorer when opening directory

I recently downloaded DOpus (forgive me!) and found a useful feature. It can be used instead of Explorer when the system or another program wants to open a directory. Surely this is done with some registry magic.

(As an example of this, dropbox has a function "Open dropbox folder", which usually opens Explorer).

Searching the registry for DOpus results in so many entries, that I'm not about to continue the search for the magic.

Perhaps this can be done with TC now with the proper reg changes. Or perhaps it requires a helper DLL for future implementation.
