Total Commander is always the first or second program I install after a fresh build; just before or right after installing the security suite. I would not run a computer without Total Commander.

The improvements over the years are phenomenal. One stands out in particular for which I want to thank M. Ghisler, and that is the inclusion of the check mark at the end of the line when editing file names. I could not account for the literal years of aggravation I have endured when editing file names, to have to remove my hand from the mouse just to press the Enter key. That simple addition of a button to simulate Enter makes the whole process friendly. There are few truly friendly programs out there, and Total Commander continually becomes more friendly with each and every update. Thank you again. I will never fail to recommend Total Commander to everyone who uses a computer.

Never one to question praise but I have always wondered - how does editing file names without having a hand on the keyboard work? Do you just select parts of the file name and use the right-click menu to copy/paste them?

I'm usually deleting from the filename, select a bit, press middle-mouse button (assigned as delete), or pasting a word. With Explorer you could just click away from the filename to confirm such a change, but in TC that just negates the change.

Rarely do I actually need to manually rename a single file - and have to type letters for it --- more likely multiple files and MRT.

Why not make TC interface even more friendly for such kind of users by adding a setting to accept rename by clicking outside of rename box (Explorer-like)?
This would be especially useful for new users who are used to Explorer style. They just click anywhere to confirm rename, even if they see the button with the tick, and then have to repeat the rename. In any case, it's easier to click anywhere, not only in small square.

Because it's just not logical. When you click outside a menu, it's dismissed. When you click outside a dialog box, nothing happens. Why should clicking outside the rename box be seen as "OK"? It just doesn't make sense.

Because there are some people who like this illogical behavior, they got used to it in Explorer and Excel
