Synchronize Directories question

Post by *cripster »

Here's the scenario followed by a question:

Left Panel: A source folder containing several hundred files
Right Panel: A backup of the folder in the Left Panel (on a different drive)

Using the Synchronize Dirs to Compare files in both panels, TC will display a list of files that only appear on the Left Panel (green arrow), a list of files that only appear on the Right Panel (blue arrow), a list of files which are identical (black =), and a list of files which do not compare (red not equals sign).

Using the filter buttons to only show the files that do not compare, I will go through the list and place a green arrow next to the specific files needing to be copied from the Left Panel to the Right Panel. For example, let's say 10 files need to be synchronized.

At this point the Synchronize button is pressed and TC dutifully begins the process of synchronizing the 10 selected files.

Here is where the issue occurs. Once the files are successfully copied from left-to-right, TC begins the Compare process all over again for every file in both panels!

I know this is how TC is supposed to work, but is there any way to force TC to Compare ONLY the 10 files originally selected? If not, there should be! :)

Thanks.

No, unfortunately not. It cannot be guaranteed that there haven't been any other changes in the meantime, e.g. by other programs running on the PC, or by remote users.
