Dynamically change directory bar or window background color

I often work with directories that go beyond the limits of the directory bar, or with multiple tabs, and I find I have to dig through the directory bar to find out what server I'm connected to, or what source directory I'm using. It'd be great if there was a way to change the directory bar color or window background color based on what directory it's pointing to so I could just tell by color what server or source directory it's using.

For example, if it's in C:\MyCode\Development\Project1\SubFolder1, the directory bar or window background would be one color, while if it's in C:\MyCode\QA\Project1\SubFolder1, it would be a different color. Similarly, if it's connected to \\ExternalServer1\SomeFolder\SomeSubFolder, it would be one color, whereas if it's connected to \\ExternalServer2\SomeFolder\SomeSubFolder, it'd be a different color. Also, if there's more than one tab open, it'd be great if each tab was colored according to the directory it's pointing to.
