FTP dir structure does not display
On win7pro, my local install of TC8.01 logs onto my FileZilla server, but then only displays an empty root. No amount of varying settings changes this behavior. My portable install of TC7.50a, however, has no problem on the same machine. Reliability of the connection has never been a problem before. I think this is a bug in TC8.01.
From the server logs I see that TC8.01 logs in normally, and receives the dir listing normally.
If I blindly give commands to change directories from the TC command bar, it changes directories, but still does not display anything in the pane. But then it becomes interesting:
I have on my server (windows)machine hard drive a directory structure as follows:
c:\media\films\comedy\puerile
In my server, I have aliases that map \media\films\ to /personal/film/, and then displays the subdirectories within. Once I get (via the command bar) to the top level of the alias, suddenly all subdirectories of \media\films\ do display normally, as well as all files inside the dir itself. I suspect there is some problem with the handling of this structure in TC that wasn't there in version 7.50a.
It is a strange and complicated problem. I hope I have made the situation clear!

The server may be sending the file list in an unknown format. Try this: After connecting, make sure that the FTP connection is the active panel. Then press Alt+Enter to view the raw listing as sent by the server. Does it contain all the files?

If I log in on my old portable install, the Lister shows up displaying the file FTPCA7.tmp, containing:
drwxr-xr-x 1 ftp ftp 0 Jan 07 21:43 eric
drwxr-xr-x 1 ftp ftp 0 Nov 29 2010 film
drwxr-xr-x 1 ftp ftp 0 Nov 08 2012 series
drwxr-xr-x 1 ftp ftp 0 Nov 06 2012 pax
drwxr-xr-x 1 ftp ftp 0 Nov 05 2012 music
drwxr-xr-x 1 ftp ftp 0 Nov 01 2012 oudspul

drwxr-xr-x 1 ftp ftp 0 Jul 03 2012 kick
drwxr-xr-x 1 ftp ftp 0 Dec 28 21:14 inprop
The 8.01 install instead in Lister lists FTPC171.tmp, containing nothing at all.

Please post a log of the login sequence for both TC 8.01 and 7.50a. You can enable FTP log files in Configuration - Options - FTP.

Solved
First let me apologize for delaying in answering. The afflicted machine developed more strange behaviors, and I found myself having to re-install Windows. After the Win reinstall, I reinstalled TC 8.01, and lo and behold! The problem disappeared!
I have since my operating system reinstall not been able to reproduce the problem. I think this solves this 'bug'.
Thank you for your attention.
