Quick search on directory hotlist

Post by *aviasd »

I'm using the hotlist for about ~80 different locations...

I thought a really nice feature would be to display all these locations flattened on one of the panels , then doing a quick search through them would be a lot faster than going through the sub menus of the hotlist...

Same goes for directory history as a panel view

Here two little ideas:

1. You can create some folder with LNKs to your favorite folders. Add it into hotlist or just add buttonbar button with cd command. Then use quick search and press Enter to open it in panel.

2. You can use multi-level hotlist: e.g. first level menus with first name letters and then items itself. Add & symbol before letters that should work as hotkeys. E.g. first-level menu with title &D and then items D&ocuments, D&evelopment etc. So you only need to press Ctrl+D and then D and O in order to open Documents dir, or D and E to open Development dir.

Thanks for the suggestions !
I used the lnk solution for a while but i like to maintain my hotlist in tc, not windows's solutions..

The other solution with & I'm already using but it's still hard to remember ( for me at least ) more than 0-9 folders (i'm using the numbers for the ones i most frequently use)
And as for the folder history view as a panel , there's no solution for it AFAIK.
I still really think this would be a nice feature.
Could someone move this post to suggestions please ?

When you double-click LNK file in TC (or press Enter) your TC enters its folder itself, it doesn't open it in Explorer. So this solution is within TC. :)

Feel free to post new suggestions yourself. :)
