Plea for better UI

Post by *JohnFredC »

For most purposes, TC for Android works fine. It is fast, does not crash, and has useful features that other Android commanders don't. However, the more I use it, the more frustrated I get. IMO TC for Android is not optimally designed for tablet use.

For instance, here is a screenshot comparing TC with a competitor: "X-plore".

I find X-plore much friendlier to use than TC.
  • 1. Perhaps if there was an option to place the TC user toolbar in the vertical area highlighted in the screenshot, TC would be a bit easier to use in portrait mode.

    2. Observe the toolbar button size in X-plore vs. the buttons in TC. On a tablet, the X-plore buttons are much easier to touch accurately.

    3. Also, notice that TC does not display the name of the folder in the hidden panel, necessitating a quick swipe left and right in order to verify the destination for copies and moves. Not necessary in X-plore.

All commander like programs on Android have their pros and cons.
I'm a hardcore TC fan since Window 3.1 but on Android I currently prefer "Solid Explorer".

About the button size: Unfortunately I don't know what is going wrong. The correct size should actually be handled by Android, but high dpi devices like the Galaxy S4 have the same problem. If I knew what I had to change, I would gladly do it...

About the buttons in the middle: Interesting idea, but how should this work with user-defined buttons where the user can add an (almost) unlimited number himself?

Christian,

Scroll them up and down, independent of the rest of the window?
