Copy search result files with path

Post by *jbcb »

Is there any possibility how to copy files placed in search results from one TC panel (listbox) info second one with their path?

I do this:
* Alt+F7 (search dialog)
* "Start search" button
* After searching I press "Feed to listbox" button
* And now I want copy listed files via F5 to second panel with path.

Now I must use workaround. I zip files in search results with "Also pack path names" option selected. Then I copy files form zip archive.

There are some special pseudo-packer plugins that simply copy files to target panel instead of packing. Try CopyTree.

In TC8.5, this works in branch view now (Ctrl+B). There is an option to preserve the paths relative to the current directory.

For the search, use the once suggested by MVV, or TreeCopyPlus.

It would be nice if TC does it in the same way for search results in list box like in the branch view. I propose it a a new feature.

The problem with a search result is that it's not clear from which directory the names should be preserved. Normally this could be the starting directory of the search - but this is lost after "feed in listbox" because there can be multiple starting directories.
