a few seconds delay when delete files in Window 8

Compare to Window 7, I felt there is always a few seconds delay when I try to delete a file with Short-cut hotkey: ctrl+del.
2-3 seconds Harddisk read/write activity before the confirmation dialog prompt. It only happen when first time try deleting a file or call context menu.
Is it only me?

First, Ctrl+Del isn't a Total Commander hotkey. Did you define it yourself?

If you mean deleting to recycle bin: It can take a while when the are already a lot of files in recycle bin. Try emptying it from time to time.

No, the recycle bin is empty. But it doesn't matter in my case. Many function will encounter this "delay" or "hang", the same thing happen when I press Ctrl+C.

But it will happen only one time, which mean the first time I try to delete or copy files, it will take 1,2 seconds, while hard drive is laboring. After that, other operations like copy, delete or cut will have no obvious delay.

Does the routine of TC calls those Windows' API is different in Windows 8?

It's never happen with my same machine on Windows 7, and it should have more than enough memory for basic operation like copy and delete ( 4GB RAM)

Hmm, maybe your Windows 8 installation has secondary hard drives power saving, so they are sleeping - and when you're trying to access them they're waking-up and that's the hang? Give it a check - go to Power Options on Control Panel, go to "Change plan settings" on the currently selected plan, click "Advanced Settings" and take a look on hard disk idle period.
