Post by *fabal »

I'm sorry for the question but i don't understand a things very easy with total commander utility. When i write a name of a file in a tab the under box complete my search but if i press enter this try to open the file while in tcu the file is selected in the tab. Can i configure TC to have the same effect?

What is TCU? Texas Christian University?

And where exactly do you write filename? Do you paste it into path field above panel or in command line below it? Or some other place?

And what do you exactly want? Focus a file by its path? Try entering cd x:\path\to\file.ext to command line.

Do you paste full path to file or enter just name?
Full paths may be entered in editable path bar field (after two long clicks in path bar free space or via cm_EditPath) or in command line with cd prefix just as I wrote.
Just name or part of name may be entered in quick filter window - use Ctrl+S to open it, in such case TC (not TCU) will focus file w/o pressing Enter.

What you seem to want is called Quick Search in TC. You can configure how to invoke Quick Search under Configuration -> Options... -> Quick Search.

By default Quick Search is set up to start if you hold down Ctrl+Alt (or AltGr) and start typing the letters.

It seems like you want to use the "Letters - with search dialog" option.
