TC with Tortoise 1.9.2 - lost shell menu items

Post by *ArnorBld »

Hi all,

Been using TC with Tortoise SVN for a long time in Windows 7/8.1 64bit without problems. Currently running TC 8.1.

Couple of days ago I upgraded from Tortoise 1.8.x to Tortoise 1.9.2 on 3 machines. No problem on two of them (one 32bit Win7, the other 64bit Win7), but on one (my main dev machine of course;) running Win8.1 64bit I completely lost the Tortoise menu items from the "Explorer" menu which pops up when you right click on the tab title bar.

It does show up in Explorer, just not in TC. I have uninstalled TortoiseSVN and re-installed it and it did not help. I seem to recall from ages ago that I needed to do something to make it show in the menu, but I cannot remember what. I have run the wdx_shelldetails.zip (downloaded today) but it does not help.

Any ideas to test?

TIA:)

Best regards

If you use 32-bit TC, you should install 32-bit shell extensions for 64-bit Tortoise, there should be an option in setup utility.

Hi,

Sorry, thought I had put it down, meant to: Everything is 64bit, TortoiseSVN, TC and OS. I have rebooted twice, but still no TortoiseSVN items in the menu. Since I do most of me development on this machine and have used TC/WC since 1997 I'm a bit lost<g>

Well, another guess: I've remembered that Tortoise has an option to enable shell extensions in apps except Explorer, perhaps it is just not enabled in your case...

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. That nudged me in the right direction! In the TortoiseSVN "Settings | Icon Overlays" in the "Icon Overlays / Status Columns" group there is a checkbox for "Show overlays and context menu only in explorer" Somehow that got checked during the upgrade to TSVN 1.9.2. Unchecked it, rebooted and I've got my TSVN menu items back:)

Thanks for the help:)

Hi,

Forgot: here is a screenshot of where this is in the TSVN Settings - maybe it will help others:)
