An idea to get the size of a FTP folder

Post by *fabiochelly »

A few time ago, I was searching for a way to get the size (with subdirs) of my FTP folders. I found a way even if it's not the most easiest one.
  • Enter the remote folder you want to know the size
  • On the other panel, go to a local empty folder (or create one)
  • Menu Commands > Synchronize Dirs
  • Click on compare
  • After the recursive search, click on "Synchronize..."
  • The size is shown on the synchronize confirmation
  • Click on cancel

best thing to activate this in common TC, as it should work with SPACE on dir or CTRL-ALT-RETURN
it would even be interesting to allow it to be automatically counted up before copying moving, though all of those should be:
1. with an entry in the config
2. possibly with user-interaction-required everytime this function is to be called
3. keep the config-entry not to be changed in the GUI, but only manually in the config-file for experienced users who know what their doing ...
FTPSIZECOUNT=YES (always summed)
FTPSIZECOUNT=ASK (TC asked from the user if he likes it this time)
FTPSIZECOUNT=NO (never summed)
