MTP (Android) and Files Management ...

Post by *islogged »

Hi,

Since i decide to crypt my Android phone, Android removed the MSC (Mass Storage Mode) option ...

That's a fact !

But now i'm oblige to use MTP (Media Transfert Mode) ... with TC

On View (F3 or Ctrl+Q) i get this message : http://i.imgur.com/TQ3QqI7.jpg
On Synchronize directories i get this one : http://i.imgur.com/mXDCWXN.jpg

I read here : http://www.ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=39160&highlight=mtp+virtual it's a "Normal behavior" but my question is :

There is really no way to totally manage Android File in MTP mode with Total Commander ?

Thank you ...

Unfortunately there are no functions to read directly from objects in virtual folders. All TC can do is send "copy", "cut" and "paste" requests via context menu interface.

So you need to copy the file to the local harddisk before you can view it, sorry.

Yeah MTP devices work in TC exactly as inside Windows Explorer because it seem to use it in background ...

Anyway it can be a great idea to implement the Synchronize Directories Function (with MTP files) to completely manage an Android Device with TC ...

You have some OpenSource Software who already implement this like FreeFileSync and maybe you can copy the code for a Total Commander Version 10 !

Thanks for your Answer ;)

Thanks for the link, I will check how it does it. The method via copy+paste is unfortunately not usable for sync.
