Different behaviour after USB drive ejection TC/W10
I realize a different behavoir after I eject the USB drive in W10 and in TC 9ß8:
TC9ß8: if I have an usb drive and I eject it using the the right mouse button chosing "Eject" (Auswerfen) and keep the usb stick still plugged in, the USB drive icon is still available but the drive cannot be used anymore. The drive icon will vanish as soon as I unplug the usb stick.
W10 1607: if I use the windows own procedure to eject the usb stick (via tray) the drive icon immediately vanishes also from the TC9ß8, even if the usb stick is still plugged in.
I would prefer to have the both methods working the same, especially as the ejection by TC will sometimes give some trouble.

Under W10 Anniversary Update the behaviour is like Docc described.
Never mind as I also only use the Tray icon
"Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media"
With this the drive vainishes immediately from Explorer and TC.

correct it behaves like I described and not like TC9ß8 64. From my point of view better to delete the possibility to eject in the context menu than to have an only half working commandMVV wrote:Horst.Epp,
So in W10 the same drive context menu command acts really differently from TC (32/64) and Explorer?

Why should TC delete standard items provided by Windows? It is however a question why "Eject" volume context menu item works differently in TC and Explorer because both should call the same shell extension...docc wrote:correct it behaves like I described and not like TC9ß8 64. Well here the idrive icon is removed when I choose Eject when right-clicking the drive button - or the drive in the drive combo-box - or an empty space in the file panel in the rooot of the drive. I don't have to remove the USB-stick to see the icon dissapear.TC9ß8: if I have an usb drive and I eject it using the the right mouse button chosing "Eject" (Auswerfen) and keep the usb stick still plugged in, the USB drive icon is still available but the drive cannot be used anymore. Testet on Win 10 1511 - maybe it is a bug/changed behaviour in Win 10 1607.
Question - Will Win 10 offer the Anniversary update (1607) automatically, when ready for one's locale, or do I have to seek it up myself?

For me in Germany the Anniversary update came automatically on the very first day after its availablity as I checked for updates..petermad wrote:Well here the idrive icon is removed when I choose Eject when right-clicking the drive button - or the drive in the drive combo-box - or an empty space in the file panel in the rooot of the drive. But Microsoft says the rollout happens in waves.

petermad,
Still, you can start the update yourself by clicking the "More information" link in the Windows update window, IIRC. This opens an Edge window where there should be a link to a download assistant.

Not necessarily. MS announced that the upgrade will be rolled out in waves, and that's what they do now. And I think it's a good idea since Win10 itself is an ongoing beta (so they want to be able to stop if any big issue pops up), but also to be able to handle the load caused by the number of systems worldwide.
