Suggestion: The MRT search & replace function should only work on the file name, not on (name and extension) as a full string.
Reason:
As things are, if you replace all the dots in filenames with some other character the dot which separates the name from the extension in each filename is replaced as well, with the generally unwanted result that the files lose their extensions.
If you are one of those people who does not like to see strange characters like umlauts, spaces or dots in filenames the MRT is a useful tool to replace them with something else, but changing the dots (which are becoming quite common) is problematical if there is no pattern in their use.

It's already there: Uncheck [E] to disable replacements in extensions.
