Now, searching for contents in PDF requires a plugin.
Could TC be enhanced so that searching in PDF files does not require plugins?
Thanks,
Please add native PDF search

Re: Please add native PDF search
Searching in PDFs is very complex because PDFs don't contain plain text, they contain instructions on where to put characters on a page for printing.

The PCREsearch plugin with the Oracle Outside In Technology Content Access filters
for example are fine for PDF content searching.
What would a TC internal solution do better ?

Alt+F7 search works with content plugins (wdx), uLister seems to be Lister plugin (wlx) only.
WDX is xPDFSearch.
Edit: I can see you have edited your message, so I can add that PCRESearch may be slower than xPDFSearch.

Yes, I know but I also use it for content searching of ODT and XLSX documents and its fast enough for me.Usher wrote: 2020-02-17, 17:00 UTC 2Horst.Epp

Most of the time I use the Windows index search with an PDF IFilter and jump from the results into TC.
