Can't get the look and feel of TC704 on TC912 - please help?
Hi all,
Been happily using TC7 for quite a while, and recently decided to try TC912.
I am having troubles trying to make TC9 to look visually the same as the old version.
This is primarily related to the clearness and crispness of the fonts (and also the line spacing, but that can be controlled, to extend, by the icon size)
As an example, I have uploaded the screenshot of two versions running side-by-side, same screen, same PC, same time, done in single snapshot.
The full-size full-res screenshot picture is HERE (I refrained from posting it here as a pic, as it's big and would clog the screen). There might be very slight jpeg compression artefacts, but I am sure you'll get the picture (no pun intended).
The Font settings are the same for both versions - Microsoft Sans Serif,8,b for File list and for Main Window, and MS Sans Serif, 8 for Dialog Box.
Needless to say that all colour settings are also the same.
However - see how different the look and feel is, in terms of crispness and sharpness of the font.
The DPI setting in the font section of TC912 does not really change anything in the look of the panels.
I really got used to the 7.04a look and would like to keep it in TC9.
Is there a way for me to do that?
Am I missing something?
Is there a principal difference in a way TC7 and TC9 display the fonts?
Thanks.

Well, this should be treated as a bug, because this blur is definitely caused by OS scaling, but it is a question why 7.04a is not blurred, as I know, latest Windows 10 blur only old apps when system zoom level is higher than 100%. What Windows version do you have?
As for some other differences, you have system icons and 32px icon size in 9.12, this may be changed.

By TC users and author.
Meanwhile I have another possible reason: Windows font smoothing. Do you use it and does disabling it makes fonts more sharp?

Try 9.22a instead, it should handle screen scaling well.

Also, you might take a look at the option FontQuality and check how TC looks with different values of it.

Thanks all,
I have tried 9.22a and it seems to be OK - thanks Christian.
I'll leave it up to the interested parties (developers) to get to the bottom of this effect in 9.12a, should they gain any interest in that at all.
Personally, I reckon that if this does not appear (read: got fixed) in the later versions of TC, I wouldn't see any reason to get bothered.
Thanks again.

ds2010,
Umm, if it works fine in 9.22a and not in 9.12a, it means the interested parties already got to the bottom of it and fixed it for 9.22a.

which is kind of suggested by the Christian's answer above, although he wasn't explicit about the specific actions on this particular bug fix between 9.12a and 9.22a. But let's give him the benefit of the doubt...
