Better way to get a list of sub-dirs
Hello,
Right now, I use the Search feature and must deal with the Advanced tabs and start clicking and unclicking. I am trying to get a list of only sub-directories in such a way that I can treat them as objects to be deleted or moved around.
I looked for a way to do this with a custom show menu but no luck so far?
Any ideas or am I overlooking something?
Thanks.
Charly

Searches can be saved via the Load/Save tab. Remove the path in the "Search in" field before saving the search.

The fastest way in TC is Everything.
Set your start path in TC and the following as search
ed:folder:
You can add more detailed folder spec after the folder: if you want.

Re: Better way to get a list of sub-dirs
A slight refinement of the suggestion of Horst.Epp
For sure, the fastest way in TC is Everything.
Set your start path in TC and the following as search: ed:folder:depth:7
This should show only subdirectories which you can "feed to listbox."
Increase and decrease 7 until it finds the largest number of directories.

Re: Better way to get a list of sub-dirs
Thank you for the replies but I am confused.
I see Everything as a check boxed item but it seems to bring up a completely different application by a company called VoidTools. Is this correct?
Forgetting the the Everything app for a second, I enter my path in "Search In:" and, presumably " ed:folder:depth:7" in "Search for". The check box for "Everything" is checked. I get nothing.
I am obviously missing something as I see (aside from the checkbox) no relationship between the Everything app and TC.
Appreciate the help.

c2walter,

Yes, it is correct. Horst.Epp seems to have forgotten that for this functionality you need to install a completely separate app. TC then uses this the Everything application to perform very fast and customizable searches.I see Everything as a check boxed item but it seems to bring up a completely different application by a company called VoidTools. Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.
Re: Better way to get a list of sub-dirs
Excellect. Thank you Roman.
I found that I had to close the actual Everything app. Then when I bring up TC, click on the check box and enter the search string, I get the results I am looking for.
Appreciate the assist.

Just for your information.
Regarding Total Commander and the tool 'Everything' I have tried to list/summarise important information here:
Search queries in Total Commander using 'Everything' (with pictures)
Point 13. SETTINGS: For 'Everything' in Total Commander & 'Everything' -> from 'Everything' Version 1.5
Windows 10 Pro (x64) Version 21H2 (OS build 19044.1586) | TC 10.00 x64/x86
'Everything' 1.5.0.1303a (x64) | Switching from Everything 1.4 to 1.5 | Troubleshooting
Open Everything GUI results with TC LOADLIST - AutoHotkey (.AHK) SCRIPT and GUIDANCE, discussions
Transfer 'Everything' GUI results to Total Commander - STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE, summary
