Do not ask "what's best" because this question cannot be answered objectively. Each and everyone has their own view about what's best in a certain area. The best is what works best for you!

Well, these questions usually lead to HUGE threads where everyone shouts at each other that his xyz is longer/better/whatever - I want to avoid that. :)

What bothers you more? The HUGE thread about a subjective matter (wasting resources on your host) or the possible (but not necessary) SHOUTING at each other?

I am interested in the opinions about the pros and cons of Opera and Firefox.
In particular I wonder why somebody is willing to pay for a browser?
Personally I prefer Mozilla with the classic theme.

I just wanted to point out that subjective "opinion" threads which Christian wants to avoid (vs. objective "fact" threads) can also be valuable (if there is a clear distinction at all). The browser question was just meant as an EXAMPLE.

I started in the DOS-days with Norton Commander and already then, there was this useless discussion going on between users of NC and PCTools. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . .. .. .. .. .. .

NC!!! :D (contributing to another useless discussion)

(hmm ... the windows implementation of NC wasn't so successful/stable AFAIK)

oh BTW: there was this abominable xtree .... still, it had a (the first?) branching ability which is so nicely implemented now in TC. :D
