Works fine here (Vista 32Bit Ultimate SP1, TC7.02a).

- What happens if you start TC with an empty "wincmd.ini" ?

Code: Select all

totalcmd.exe /i=NUL
- Is there a key remapping for <CTRL+T> ?
Configuration->Options->Misc: wrote:(x) Hotkey [x] Control+ [ ] ALt + [ ]Shift + T
Command: Default command (no remapping)
- Any AHK script (or similar keyboard-macro program) running in the background?

go to opions -> layout -> turn on Folder-Tabs
this is NORMAL behaviour if you turned tabs off!

[Tabs]

..
I wouldn't call this normal.
A little bit strange to keep this behavior over the years, especially when "Show->New Folder Tab Ctrl-T" and "Files->Multi-Rename Tool Ctrl-M" says something different.
4 Years after the change of a hotkey, there is still a Layout! option which changes default hotkeys !?! :roll:

@HolgerK:
Yes it is normal as Gishler is famous for his backwards compatibility.
In Versions where there where no Folder-Tabs CTRL+T was used to call the MRT.

Pls read your quote again it cleary states that behavior only is when you have folder tabs enabled

Now, before I saw that second reply, i was playing with Configuration->Options->Misc and now I dont know if i left some strange mapping on, how can one see what custom mappings are on?

thanks!

Userdefined hotkeys are stored in the section [Shortcuts] in WINCMD.INI.

A very useful tool for comfortable hotkey editing is UTC-Hotkeys Editor.

I know about this hotkey change, and I even know how to change the hotkey back to the old meaning (If I ever would feel the need to do this).
And I think that every old user who wants to keep the old hotkey can do this too.

What I am wondering is that this is not an expected behavior for a new user.
It's not mentioned in the internal help and the menu tells something different. And I guess in the meantime every menu translation since 6.0 is adapted to the new hotkey.

Scenario 1:
Mmmh, the hotkey CTRL+T dosn't open the folder tab!?!
... Maybe because I disabled them?
... Yeah, that was the reason!

Scenario 2:
Wtf ... CTLR+T opens the MRT ...!?!
... Aaaah, I remember this discussion: ( http://ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=1166 )
... It's a compatibility workaround explained here: ( http://marmouset.atspace.com/helptc/wcm-en14.htm#f-tabs )
... And of course it's explained somewhere in the history of TC6.0
... No problem, all I have to do, is to turn the folder tabs on again.

Scenario 3:
Wtf ... CTRL+T does not open the MRT.
... Mmmh, the menu says the hotkey is CTRL+M
... I don't like this new hotkey -> let's change it back.

Decide for your own, which of the three scenarios is realistic or not.
</OT>

Kind regards,
Holger
