[solved] Cursor doesn't jump to new file after Shift+F5 copy

Post by *petermad »

Preiviously in TC (also in earlier 7.50 betas) the cursor jumped to the new file if I use Shift+F5 to copy a file in the same panel.

In TC 7.50pb8 it is no longer like that - this change is not mentioned in history.txt - so I consider it a bug.

Confirmed!
chmod a+x /bin/laden -- Allows anyone the permission to execute /bin/laden

How do I un-overwrite all my data?

Not Confirmed!

Total Commander 7.50 pb8, too, will position the cursor on the newly created file after a Shift-F5 copy operation.

+ Total Commander 7.04a
+ Total Commander 7.50 pb8
+ Windows Vista Home Premium, 32bit

Kind regards,
Karl

if the new file is higher in the list
That doesn't seem to be of importance here...

It seams to be related to [Configuration] WatchDirs=x.

Cannot reproduce (using Watchdirs=51 all the time). What Watchdirs settings do you use?

I am also using watchdirs=51.

But I can also reproduce it with a fresh ini-file, wich means WatchDirs=0

Mh sorry cant reproduce the relationship anymore. (I use Watchdirs=3)

But I reproduced it even with TC 7.5 pb1 and a blank ini. And with TC 7.5 pb8 and a blank ini. But cannot reproduce always.

So where does the cursor go when it doesn't go to the target?

It is quite weird. If I start wit a fresh ini file and Shift+F5 copy a file in the root of C: then the cursor stays on the old file. If I instead goes to a subdir ad do a Shift+F5 copy then the cursor goes to the new file! And if I then goes back to the root of C: and does the Shift+F5 copy then the cursor now correctly goes to the new file.

But if I restart TC with the new ini file then doing Shift+F5 copy in the root again leaves the cursor on the old file. I so it is every time I retart TC with that ini file.

Then comes the most weird thing. If I do a Shift+F5 copy in the root of drive E: the cursor moves to the new files - and after doing that the cursor also moves correctly when doing Shift+F5 copy in the root of C: - also after restart.

So with this ini file the cursor does not move when doing a Shift+F5 copy in the root of C:

Code: Select all

[Configuration]
firstmnu=2618
SeparateTree=0
PanelsVertical=0
[left]
path=c:\
ShowAllDetails=1
SpecialView=0
show=1
sortorder=0
negative Sortorder=0
[right]
path=c:\
ShowAllDetails=1
SpecialView=0
show=1
sortorder=0
negative Sortorder=0
[RightHistory]
0=c:\
[LeftHistory]
0=c:\
But with this ini file, the cursor corretcly moves to the new file when doing a Shift+F5 copy in the root of C:

Code: Select all

[Configuration]
firstmnu=3066
SeparateTree=0
PanelsVertical=0
[left]
path=c:\
ShowAllDetails=1
SpecialView=0
show=1
sortorder=0
negative Sortorder=0
[right]
path=E:\
ShowAllDetails=1
SpecialView=0
show=1
sortorder=0
negative Sortorder=0
[RightHistory]
0=E:\
[LeftHistory]
0=c:\
I will investigate some more.

Can confirm this behavior.

Seems to be root (C: ) related.
(could reproduce it always on root with empty ini)
