i like 8 because it rename with button click without keyboard.
So does 7.5x - just make sure InplaceRename in wincmd.ini is not set to 0.

copy thumb: sourcepath_and_filename<destpath_and_filename
delete thumb: sourcepath_and_filename
If these are the last lines, then it means that your thumbnail database is damaged. Please delete it. You can find it in
C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Local\GHISLER\

The files tcthumbs.db and tcthumbs.idb.
Removing pending bitmap and icon notifications
Removing bitmaps and icons from background thread queue
These are in the foreground thread, I need the last line BEFORE these lines.

Interesting, so the icon thread was terminated at the exact same moment when TC tried to update the thumbnail database! Is this just a coincidence (e.g. you just tried to close TC then)?
empty dir...
This has nothing to do with icons, but with thumbnails. Please check the following in menu Configuration - Options - Thumbnails:
1. What database location is set there? The default is
%$LOCAL_APPDATA%\GHISLER
2. Check whether the option "Copy/Delete thumbnails with files" is checked.
3. Try to go to the location of your thumbs database: Close the configuration dialog, then write the command
cd pathname
on the command line and press ENTER. pathname would be the database location found in step 1, e.g. %$LOCAL_APPDATA%\GHISLER

Since you don't use any thumbnails, you can uncheck Nr. 2. This way TC will not look for the thumbs database for each copied or deleted file...

Please try again with rc2!
http://www.ghisler.com/757a_rc2.php

I could reproduce it this way:
1. Start the background transfer manager via menu
2. Click on "Pause"
3. Go to a dir with many many files, select them all with Ctrl+A
4. In the other panel, go to a dir with a few folders taking about 5-10 seconds to count
5. Start counting them with Alt+Shift+Enter
6. Switch to the other panel and press F5 - F2 shortly before the counting ends

After a few tries, Alt+Shift+Enter stops working. This should be fixed now in RC2.
