Quick filtering?

Post by *Beano »

CTRL+S brings up a small filter option for the current listed files - which is fine, but is there a way to make it keep the filer when browsing to other directories?

I'm not interested in using the "Custom" file view.

Thanks in advance.

You may set constant filter via menu item Show - Custom... - it does exactly what you ask. It is not the custom view mode but custom filter for active panel.

I know - but as I wrote, I'm not interested in custom filters (CTRL+F12).
The reason is I'm using quick filtering all the time but with different filtering and using Custom view every time is to tedious.

Quick filter is great - but resets when changing folder :(

You can press Ctrl+Shift+S to open the last used filter - does that help you?

It's does not solve it since I still need to re-activate the filter each time I change folder, but a good workaround which make it easier - thank you :)

Ctrl+S is a temporary filter. You can set a permanent filter with Ctrl+F12, or via menu "Show".

Yes I know. The reason I prefer quick search is it doesn't require wildcards (can be disabled in options) and is.... quicker... to use :)

Consider this a suggestion for a "keep on folder/drive change" option in a future version ;)
