Post by *jslegers »

Hello,

I have the following problem as described in this thread :

http://www.ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=36388

Is it possible to "see" what total commander is try to do ? I can't figure out what is happening. I would like to find out before I have to re-install the computer. :?:

Hi jslegers,

I would use Sysinternals Process Monitor (freeware) for such thing (logging is only available for file(system plugin) operations in TC afaik) and exclude as much unnecessary items from its list as possible (or just include TotalCommander.exe and maybe explorer.exe, and other such important services).

Using this utility you can debug & view / export the log that when & what exactly happens with each processes.

Some tutorial / help: http://www.mztools.com/articles/2008/MZ2008024.aspx
http://superuser.com/questions/372204/how-to-exclude-every-process-in-sysinternals-process-monitor-in-the-filter-exce (though i wouldn't exclude everything, as AV scanners may cause much trouble too, so be sure to disable it before doing such things as using Process Monitor)
