Hm, folks.
At the end of April 4 users in addition to the forum moderators were granted the privilege of banning spammers.
Counting the number of spam posts which have been placed during the past 3 or 4 days and not removed, yet, I start wondering a bit whether all double zero users with the license to kill (spam posts) have gone on holiday simultaneously?
Cheers,
Karl

We all ban users but the messages are not removed automatically.karlchen wrote:Hm, folks.

Hello, carvicer. Hello, Horst.Epp. Hello, Stefan2.
I see. So this is a misinterpretation on my side. I had assumed that you could do both, lock the spammer's account and (bulk)-delete the messages. Thanks for correcting my error.

karlchen,
Only the cool
moderators are allowed to delete posts and even they cannot delete them in batches, they have to click the delete button on each post and confirm. A button allowing to delete (or at least hide) all posts from a user would be very useful.

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

Please be patient, I'm just writing a custom phpbb extension which will allow moderators to delete all posts of a certain user. I will probably limit it to new user accounts which are not older than a certain amount of time to avoid troubles.

It seems most of these spambots around here are about to create a new topic which contains an url in its title - is this even a necessary thing to allow? I mean, couldn't be the problem partially solved by disallowing the opening of new topics containing an url in their subject (with or without "http://" & "www" tag, by using some TLD-list)? And the moderators could still care about the rest...

Good point, I have now blocked any messages with title containing "http://" or "www.".

Most spammers use the signature field to post their link, can you prevent any user from using the signature before a week from creating his account and also have some posts, let's say 5 posts.ghisler(Author) wrote:I have now blocked any messages with title containing "http://" or "www.".
