Post by *aergison »

Hi,

how can I access a password protected directory shared on my LAN?

Thanks,

Just enter the address like \\server\share, and the PocketPC will ask you for user name and password (at least that's what happening on my two devices). Please note that this will _not_ work via the cradle. A true network connection is needed, e.g. via Lan, Wlan, or a dialup connection.

I enter:

\\192.168.10.2\d

and it says: "Erreur 53 organis. réps.!"

I'm using wm5 on a axim x51v

Shouldn't access an IP address, but rather a windows share name?

Thanks!

Perhaps, because the directory is not browsable without a password?

>smbclient -L \\192.168.10.2
Password:
Anonymous login successful
Domain=[WORKGROUP] OS=[Windows 5.0] Server=[Windows 2000 LAN Manager]

Sharename Type Comment
--------- ---- -------
Error returning browse list: NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED
session request to 192.168.10.2 failed (Called name not present)
session request to 192 failed (Called name not present)
Anonymous login successful

Could be - I don't know the internals of Windows Mobile enough. It also seems that Windows Mobile only supports unecrypted authentication (simple user name and password), not the more protected MS LANMAN.

Please try whether it works when you allow anonymous.
